Description:

Some families can navigate a mental health crisis with the support of their family and mental health team. In some cases, however, a mental health crisis leaves families facing the difficult decision to call the police. In an era of traumatic videos being shared on multiple media sources, families may feel hesitant to reach out to emergency responders for help. In this workshop, a panel of presenters will share their recommendations for what to consider and communicate with emergency responders to improve outcomes. This panel will be moderated by Susan Allen-Samuel, the NH Crisis Intervention Teams Coordinator (CIT), who will provide an overview of the impact of CIT on mental health crisis response in New Hampshire since program implementation in 2018.
