MG David Mikolaities

Adjutant General - New Hampshire National Guard

Major General David J. Mikolaities assumed duties as The Adjutant General, New Hampshire on September 23, 2017.  General Mikolaities serves as both the Military Chief of Staff to the Governor and as the Commissioner of the Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services.  In these roles, he is responsible for the strategic direction of Army and Air National Guard operations and all aspects of Veterans Services, including the Division of Veterans Services, the Division of Community Based Military Programs as well as the State Veteran’s Cemetery. 

General Mikolaities received his commission through the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1987.  Once commissioned, he served on active duty holding numerous leadership and staff positions within the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Carson, Colorado.  He transitioned to the reserve component where he completed the Special Forces Officer Qualification Course and served as a Detachment Commander with C Company, 1st Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne).  Following this assignment, General Mikolaities served with Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) where he held numerous staff positions.  In 2007, General Mikolaities joined the New Hampshire Army National Guard.  Throughout his career, he has served in various operational and staff assignments that included Commander, 54th Troop Command.  His operational assignments include deployments to Qatar and Iraq in 2003-2004 with SOCCENT and Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Arabian Peninsula and to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010, serving in multiple roles with that country’s Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a Master’s Degree in Management from Webster University.  General Mikolaities is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, Command and General Staff College, Joint Forces Staff College, and the Army War College.  He has also completed Ranger, Special Forces, Mountain Warfare, and Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat training.  
Prior to his current assignment, General Mikolaities served as the Construction and Facilities Management Officer (CFMO) for Joint Force Headquarters-New Hampshire.  While chairing this position, he served as the senior engineer staff officer for the Adjutant General. 

Warren M. Perry

Deputy Adjutant General

 Warren M. Perry was appointed as the Deputy Adjutant General on 13 November 2015. The Deputy Adjutant General serves as the principal liaison to senior military officials, various state and federal officials, the legislature, local governments, and community groups. The Deputy Adjutant General also provides overall guidance and direction for state operations including business administration, facilities management, the Division of Veterans Services, the Division of Community Based Military Programs, and the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery. The Deputy Adjutant General assumes full responsibility for the Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services in the absence of the Adjutant General.

Warren was born in Bangor, Maine and raised in a military family. He lived around the world returning to New England to attend college. He graduated from the University of Maine in 1986 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. He served in the Army for over 28 years retiring in 2014. During his time in the Army, he held several key positions including: Inspector General, Army Accessions Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Regional Team Chief, Iraqi Assistance Group, Basra, Iraq; Commander, 2nd Battalion 358th Armor, Fort Lewis, Washington; 31st Mechanized Infantry Battalion Advisor, Saudi Arabian National Guard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Brigade Operations Officer, 1st Armor Training Brigade, Fort Knox, Kentucky. He is a veteran of Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. His final assignment was as the State Inspector General, New Hampshire National Guard. After retirement, Warren spent a year in the private sector as an operations manager for Exel Logistics in Bow, New Hampshire.
His military awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal (with Three Oak Leaf Clusters); Army Commendation Medal (with Four Oak Leaf Clusters); Valorous Unit Award; South West Asia Service Medal (with Three Bronze Stars); Iraqi Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait); Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia).
He holds a Master of Arts degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University and a Masters of Business Administration from Western Kentucky University.

Warren resides in Bow with his wife Sue. They have three children, Erin, Kathleen, and Michael.

Department Leadership

Shawn P. Buck

Shawn Buck was selected as Director of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery located in Boscawen, New Hampshire in October 2018. As Director, he is responsible for the operations and supervision of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery (NHSVC) encompassing 104 acres in Boscawen, NH. He is responsible for interacting with senior legislators and leaders of state veterans’ organizations. He works directly with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on all matters concerning the cemetery.

Mr. Buck was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army in May, 1987.  His assignments include Fire Direction Officer, 2d Infantry Division (Korea), Platoon Leader and Fire Support Officer, 24th Infantry Division (Fort Stewart, GA and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm), Battery Commander, 25th Infantry Division (Hawaii), Assistant Professor of Economics at West Point, NY, Market Analyst with US Army Recruiting Command, Professor of Military Science at UCLA, and Chief, Market Research and Analysis with US Army Accessions Command.  He is Airborne, Air Assault and Ranger qualified.  He retired from active duty in July, 2008.

From 2008-2018, Mr. Buck worked as a Director of Operations and Planning, Director of Supply Chain, and Vice President of Operations for two private companies.  He also served as an Admissions Liaison for the US Military Academy and was a member of the Board of Directors of Family Promise of Concord.

Mr. Buck received a Bachelor’s Degree in economics from the US Military Academy at West Point, NY and a Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.  Mr. Buck and his wife, Diana, reside in Bow, NH. They have three grown children.

William Gaudreau

William Gaudreau serves the State of New Hampshire in the capacity as the Director for the State’s Division of Veterans Services.  As Director he leads a talented, hardworking group of Veteran Service Officers whose responsibilities are to advocate for New Hampshire Veterans and their families in the attainment of their State and Federal Veteran’s benefits.

Son to William and Linda Gaudreau of Manchester, NH, Retired Senior Chief Petty Officer Gaudreau was born in Stoughton, Massachusetts but grew up and attended school in New Hampshire.  In the spring of 1986, he graduated High School in Weare, New Hampshire and by fall of that same year, he had shipped out to Recruit Training Center (RTC) San Diego, California.  He attended and graduated from Cryptologic Technician Collections school in Pensacola, Florida and began an illustrious 29-year career as a cryptologist before retiring in June of 2016.

In those 29 years, he deployed on more than 20 THIRD and SEVENTH Fleet Naval Combatants, has visited more than 20 countries in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and in the Arabian Gulf, been assigned to eight different duties stations, spent nine years stationed in Japan and promoted to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer while leading thousands of Sailors.
 
During his 29 years of service, William has had a great many successes which have earned him numerous recognition and awards.  His most important success has been his nearly 30-year marriage to his wife Victoria and the birth and the raising of their daughter; Katelyn Margaret.
